Submissions to perform at this summer’s Langley Street Dance are currently being accepted.

Music groups have until March 20 to apply to perform during the fifth annual Langley Street Dance, which takes place July 11 this year.

The yearly event features food, beer gardens and dancing galore. The Nathaniel Talbot Trio and Western Heroes played last summer.

Langley Main Street Association will select two bands to perform during 7-10 p.m. that night. Each group chosen will receive $1,000 for performing.

Applicants are graded on their submission materials, exposure, locality, artistic quality and “danceability of music.”

Performers must provide a sound tech and set up and take down their own equipment.

Langley Main Street Association will provide marketing for the bands and the event.

Executive Director Michaleen McGarry said most bands that apply have been local to Whidbey. She can recall only one that has been off-island.
