A celebration for the graduating class of South Whidbey High School is scheduled to occur beginning at noon in Langley this Saturday, June 13.
In lieu of a traditional graduation ceremony, seniors will instead be part of a car parade with their families joining them.
The parade route will follow a loop, starting at the South Whidbey Community Center back parking lot, then proceeding down Cascade Avenue, running along First Street, turning left on Park Avenue and then another left on Second Street before returning back to Cascade Avenue.
Onlookers watching the parade are encouraged to practice social distancing and to wear masks.
Around 12:45 p.m., diplomas will be presented to the tassel turners in the South Whidbey High School student parking lot.
A staging area for the procession will be located near the front entrance of the high school.
Only the graduates will be allowed to exit their cars when receiving their diplomas. Families will follow in their cars. There will be a brief photo opportunity, but professional photographers will be present as well.
