Coupeville middle and high school students have more opportunities for in-person instruction in the school district’s new schedule.
As of April 12, middle school students go on campus from 8 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. two days a week, either Monday and Tuesday, or Wednesday and Thursday. They attend virtual classes the other two days.
There is no instruction on Friday. High school students have a similar schedule, except that they have virtual classes on Friday from 8-11 a.m.
Class sizes are around 15 students each.
Previously, students were on campus in the afternoons to receive help from a teacher for a few hours after doing virtual classes in the morning.
Coupeville Middle and High School Principal Geoff Kappes said 80 percent of middle school students are using the hybrid in-person model while just 60 percent of high school students do. Online-only students watch a livestream of the in-person class.
Elementary school students have not changed their schedules from when they returned in February.
