Candidates with a desire to serve on the South Whidbey School Board don’t have much time left to indicate their interest in the position.
Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18.
The position, which encompasses the Clinton area, was previously occupied by Damian Greene, who resigned from the school board Jan. 1.
At a school board workshop Wednesday night, it was announced that the position had received zero applications.
Since then, at least one applicant has come forward, and several others have indicated their interest, according to Kristina Macarro, the executive assistant to Superintendent Jo Moccia.
Macarro declined to say who has applied so far, citing concerns about not wanting to “influence applicants due to current applications.”
Details about how to apply for the vacancy can be found at sw.wednet.edu/school_board. Additionally, questions can be directed to Macarro at kmacarro@sw.wednet.edu.
