Elizabeth Lee, known as Alisha to many of her friends, passed away March 14, 2022 in Gresham, Ore., from complications caused by pneumonia. She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and June Mersereau Lee.

Alisha was born in Portland, Ore., graduating from Riverdale Grade School and Catlin Gabel High School. She later attended Bradford Junior College in Haverhill, Mass., before transferring to the University of Arizona where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Government.

Alisha was a gifted athlete, and like her mother and father, she excelled as a tennis player. After college, she taught at Portland’s Buckman Tennis Center where she was greatly admired. An interest in dance performance, ultimately led her to Langley, where she found a loving, supportive community of like-minded souls. For several years, Alisha choreographed, directed, and danced in performances that were noted for their originality, eclectic humor, and zany spirit. Her “Flip Side of Langley” was a popular draw, with a local following that regularly attended her shows. Alisha also made jewelry, designed dancing accessories, and taught dance. She loved children, and one of her favorite joys was painting faces at the county fairs.

Alisha’s ongoing mental health challenges eventually brought her performances to an end, though she continued to be a presence in the community with her daily trips to the Star Store. She will be remembered for her vitality, great sense of humor, rich creative spirit, and eye for beauty.

Alisha is survived by her sister, Jane Lee; brother, Hal Lee (Susan); nieces and nephews, Rachael Levesque (Nic), Clay Knope (Brittany), Sam Lee, and Rose Lee; two great-nephews, and one-great niece.

A celebration of life is planned for late summer in Langley. The family suggests donations to the Whidbey Children’s Theatre, and OutCast Productions in Langley.
