Can’t wait to get out and swing your clubs this spring?
Looking for a golf course that offers 18 holes of exciting play surrounded by natural beauty, with a restaurant and bar serving first-class food and drinks?
Whidbey Golf Club enjoys a quiet Oak Harbor setting, featuring a lake and tree-lined glen, and is a natural choice for golfers of all ages and level of play.
Located in the “rain shadow” of the Olympic Mountains, this area experiences at least 50 percent less rainfall than the rest of the Puget Sound, making this course very playable throughout the winter.
“We take great pride in offering our members and guests the best playing experience possible. Compared to other courses in the region, our course plays better year-round because we get less rain here on the island, have good drainage, and our Superintendent Trevor Thorp and his maintenance staff do an amazing job.” says General Manager Arik Dahlen. “Our fairways are looking nice and crisp, and our greens are in great shape – just looking at the course they really stand out!”
Besides the thrills of playing a top-notch course, you can also take time to relax and unwind in the Fairway Grill, available to members and their guests. The semi-private restaurant/bar offers a great menu that includes a Friday Member Dinner featuring mouth-watering items like Dover sole, roasted garlic duck, and prime rib dinner.
“Many people in the area still don’t know that we’re semi-private, and have Social Memberships available that are only $20/month for the family,”Dahlen says. “The restaurant and bar has four 63-inch TVs combined to make a nine-foot TV – a great place to watch any sporting event! We also have fun events like Cinco de Mayo, and a great Mother’s Day buffet, so there’s something for everyone.”
Established in 1961, “we’re still member owned – anyone has an opportunity to become a shareholder member,” Dahlen says.
Whidbey Golf Club also boasts a tournament schedule that runs almost year-round, and features events like the Whidbey Local Ladies Invitational, the Apple Cup 2-Man, and the Superbowl Scramble.
“We have a great tournament schedule that’s open to pretty much everyone, with great guests coming from all over the U.S. and a good range of categories that will suit any player, from novice to advanced,” Dahlen says. “Both of our course pros are also available for lessons, and one of them – David Phay, has made it through the preliminary round of this years’s U.S. Open qualifier!”
