Shirley Ann (Hoiland) Vanetta (Annie), resident of Clinton, WA and formerly Snohomish, WA passed away November 3, 2022 surrounded by family and friends.
Shirley was born to Oran and Thelma (Helland) Hoiland on July 3, 1946 in Marshall, MN. She spent her first 5 years in MN before moving to her mother’s hometown of Clinton and lived on various army bases while her father was in the service. Shirley graduated from Langley High School in 1964 and was a graduate of Central Washington University in Accounting. Shirley married the love of her life William (Bill) Vanetta in 1981. They loved sailing, and lived on a houseboat and a sailboat on Lake Union before building and running Log Cabin Llamas in Snohomish until 1998. Bill preceded her in death in 2020. She continued to reside in Snohomish until 2021 when she moved back to Whidbey Island.
Shirley worked for ADP for 20 years and retired in 2008. She hiked, hunted and skied in her younger years, and was a talented quilter, gardener, and baker. She loved animals and usually had a dog in residence. She loved traveling with Bill, including a six month trip around the US in their motor home as well as to Figi, Australia and Hawaii. She treasured time with her family and holidays were always a festive affair in their home. She looked forward to the girls outings that she had with her special group of friends (Nikki, Joani, Janice & Cindy). Shirley was a friend to all she met and will be greatly missed.
Shirley is survived by her sister Chrisdy (Murray) Johnson; nieces Ashleigh & Bayley; step children Laird (Carol) Vanetta; Laura Korb; Lance (Christina) Vanetta; Brett (Jennifer) Vanetta; step grandchildren Ryan, Christopher, Brendan, Ashley, Brianna, Lily, Soren, Nick, Ella, Marissa and step great-grandchildren Hudson and Kingston as well as many special cousin’s in WA & MN.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
