Firefighters with Central Whidbey Island Fire and Rescue want to thank our board of fire commissioners for placing a fire levy lid lift on the November general election ballot.

Ironically, it’s hard for firefighters to ask for help when we have dedicated our lives to helping others. However, call volumes have increased by 50% since 2012 and we’re asking for help now.

The lid lift will fund four additional firefighters. This will meet new state requirements for interior search and rescue operations and allow us to have both a fire engine and medic unit in service at the same time. (Currently, we can only staff one or the other.)
