The four seniors on the Falcons volleyball team — Kelsey Taylor, Katie Bushey, Lyna Nichols and Alyssa Coupe — gathered to talk about their memories on the court for South Whidbey after the last home game against King’s High.

South Whidbey rebounded from a tough road loss and hit the grass running against Coupeville High School. The Falcons relied on junior quarterback Avery Buechner and its defense to beat Whidbey Island rival Coupeville 33-7.

Beating Lakewood was the hope. The South Whidbey High School volleyball team learned it was easier said than done in its 3-1 loss last week.
South Whidbey stayed in contention through the match. The Cougars won the first two games 26-24 and 25-22.
The game was a tale of two halves.

The organizers claimed the 5,000-meter course was fast.
Turns out, they were right.
South Whidbey cross country runners piled up 16 personal records on the race route at Cedarcrest Golf Course during this week’s North County Invite. South Whidbey had 25 athletes compete in the race.
Before the homecoming-game kickoff, South Whidbey High School celebrated its 2010 Wall of Fame honorees and the 1979 Kingbowl football team.
