The 2007-08 South Whidbey boys basketball team secured their place in school history Tuesday by beating Archbishop Murphy 58-40, securing a 2A division playoff spot and celebrating the team’s first winning season since 1992.
James Schorr won the regional championship in his 160-pound weight class at the regionals in Mount Vernon Saturday.
Schorr will join teammates Aaron Mannie (152), Trapper Rawls (285), Darrin Britton (215) and Jordan Broyles (171) in Tacoma for the Mat Classic state wrestling finals on Friday.
A revitalized South Whidbey girls basketball team climbed out of the league cellar with a smashing 64-41 win over Granite Falls on Friday.
They did it with an equal measure of inspired defense and shooting accuracy.
They’re good, no question.
Undefeated at 12-0 in the league (14-4 overall) the King’s Knights run a disciplined, intelligent and aggressive game plan and have the players to back it up.

Although King’s is still undefeated in the 1A class, in the 2A slot the Falcons are 2-3 and 6-5 overall and pulled even with Granite Falls to stay third in league standings.

LANGLEY — The girls basketball team from Cedarcrest was short in stature, but long on offense Friday.
They beat a flagging South Whidbey team decisively in the fourth quarter to win 65-51. The loss dropped the Falcons to the cellar in the Cascade Conference at 0-4.

PORT TOWNSEND — The South Whidbey girls basketball team managed to win two of their three games at the “Crush in the Slush” tournament in Port Townsend over the weekend.
