Sasquatch sightings on Whidbey are becoming a bit more predictable.
Rumor has it Garry the Sasquatch, who has been known to frequent the Oak Harbor Main Street Association, will make an appearance at this year’s Sasquatch Walk.
Patrons can tour downtown Oak Harbor from 1 to 4 p.m. on June 22, trying “bites” — treats, hors d’oeuvres, samples — from 25 participating restaurants and merchants and listening to live tunes from the Erik Christensen Band and Walk the Line at the Pop Up Plaza on the corner.
The Sasquatch Walk, the Main Street Association’s annual fundraiser, paid to build the plaza after the first walk four years ago. This year, the organization plans to raise funds to complete the Serendipity Lane project, an aesthetic passageway from Pioneer Way to Bayshore Drive, said Teresa Besaw, marketing coordinator.
It’s a great way for Whidbey Islanders to visit new businesses or try a taste of businesses they haven’t yet, Besaw said.
Participating businesses include Amaya’s Bakery, Barrington’s Irish Bar and Grill, Chef in the Black Bandana, China Harbor, Cosmic Veggies, Frasers Gourmet Hideaway, Keto Carb Crave, Kraken’s Cove, Lava Louie’s Pizza, Lotus Tea Bar & Studio, Mad Batter Bakehouse, Noe Jose Cafe, Off the Hook, Orlando’s Bar, Pamela’s Legacy, PNW Vibes Market, Popsies, PresTEAge, Riverside Cafe, Soo Berry Good, SweetRiceThaiCuisine, Terra Ven, The Tipsy Jellyfish, Whidbey Coffee and Whidbey Wonka’s.
Tickets are limited and selling fast, she said. They can be purchased for $40 at the Main Street website, oakharbormainstreet.org, under the “Events” tab.
