To the editor:
I waited until after the festive season to send this “Bah humbug” letter.
We live in the Skyline West development off Goss Lake Road in Freeland. Right before Christmas, some sneaky enterprising soul(s) came onto our property one evening after dark, and quietly sawed down our beautiful 10- to 12-foot grand fir tree, I assume to take to decorate their home. The perpetrator(s) even left a pretty tall stump, which brought attention to what had been done.
Now, times are tough for some, and I would not begrudge much (well, maybe a little) someone taking a small Douglas fir to make his/her home festive; I like to think of little kiddies enjoying the tree. However, a 12-foot grand fir requires a grand location; it has not likely been decorating the house of someone scraping by.
So, I say bah humbug on whoever took our lovely tree; and remember, whatever goes around, comes around.
To the rest of our South Whidbey neighbors: Happy New Year!
