To the editor:
Hey, city council members: the mayor is elected for a specified term to complete the job of mayor at a specified salary.
If the mayor does a good job, he is re-elected.
If the mayor does a bad job, he doesn’t get re-elected.
The incentive for the mayor is to get re-elected.
The incentive for any mayor is NOT to get a pay raise.
The city council has no right to change the mayor’s salary if he does a good job. That is what the mayor is supposed to do, do a good job.
If we elect any official, and he does a good job, do we increase his salary?
No.
We might re-elect that official, but we don’t shell out more money just because he did his job.
If the city council does a good job, I sure hope to h___ that you are not expecting a raise.
This city council, right now, is doing a really poor job.
You are wasting our money.
You should gracefully resign, along with our beloved mayor, so the city of Langley won’t be put in any more debt.
Please help us, the residents of Langley, and vacate your posts so that we can get some people into your offices that will do your jobs effectively and not expect anything more than reelection.
Thank you for helping us all out.
