To the editor:
In reference to the Record’s (Plymouth) political cartoon of Nov. 17, my son Tim and I are direct, registered, “blue blood” descendants of Governor William Bradford and religious leader William Brewster from the Plymouth-Mayflower Colony. So this time of year I sometimes get on my family’s traditional rebellion causes!
Yes, I did recently join one of the “OWS” demonstrations — just like I did in the Vietnam demonstrations in the ’60s. It is going to be interesting on where this all goes.
Some Thanksgiving dinner food for thought: I don’t see much difference between the slave masters of the 1700s and 1800s profiting off of the slaves’ backs and many of the corporations now profiting off of minimum wage ($8 per hour) worker bees. Both slaves and worker bees made and make just enough to have the basics — food, clothes and shelter. Actually, one cannot survive today (without help) on $8 an hour. The slaves were better off “financially.”
