Former Langley councilwoman endorses incumbent

Editor,

Dominique Emerson is a rare find. I served on the Langley City Council for 12 years and in my estimation Dominique is one of the most dedicated council members I have ever been honored to serve with. Dominique has been serving the City of Langley since she moved to town in 1993. Dominique joined the Library Board and invested in the Island Independent Newspaper as she settled into town.

You can tell Dominique cares deeply about this community because she steps forward with her time and energy. Six years ago, Dominique became a public servant when she was asked to serve as a member of the Shoreline Management Plan committee; the completed plan is now part of the city’s comprehensive plan. Dominique applied to be on the Planning Advisory Board five years ago and then rose to the position of chairwoman. The PAB makes crucial decisions about the future of Langley in regard to land development, housing, and comprehensive planning.

In 2016 Dominique was appointed to the city council. It was perfect timing because we were finalizing the comprehensive plan and she was completely familiar with the comp plan’s intricacies. Dominique always came prepared to meetings with practical suggestions and solutions. She gets how important it is to retain Langley’s unique and special nature yet allow it to grow in positive ways. I felt honored to work with Dominique because I could trust she had done the research or talked to constituents in order to make the best decisions.

I highly recommend Dominique Emerson for Langley City Council.

Sincerely,

RENE NEFF
