Hold contractors and home services companies accountable

This is an open letter to the many local contractors and home services companies. I moved to Whidbey about four months ago, as did my sister and brother-in-law. Speaking on behalf of both of our households, we have been repeatedly disappointed by the lack of professionalism and customer service from local contractors and home services companies. We understand, business is good and you are very busy, however, that is never an excuse for no call backs, no shows, and an overall lack of response and interest. Speaking with many long-term residents, I have found that these are common occurrences and that the level of frustration is very high.

I encourage all residents who have experienced this lack of professionalism and customer service to let your voices be heard via Yelp, Facebook and other social media venues. When the economy turns, which it will, my hope is that residents will remember those contractors and home services companies that value professionalism and customer service and those that did not. I know we will.
