To the editor:

I was outraged by a recent letter to the editor stating fabrication after fabrication about the recent trip to Mumbai, India and points east by President Obama.

The writer must have used stats from Fox News pundits and lying heads to give his ridiculous assertions an air of credibility. It was on TV, therefore it must be true. The idiotic claim that Obama has run this country into a $13 trillion hole since taking office is absurd. It took Reagan, Bush 1 and Bush the Lesser many years to run up that kind of tab. Look it up, Mr. Turner, check the facts, and then make your comments in print.

To say that Obama had an entourage of thousands and 34 ships off the coast for security was termed “comical” by Geoff Morrell, the spokesman for the Pentagon.

I am amazed at the time and voice given to such a diatribe by a person who doesn’t seem to know how to do a fact-check before making such outrageous claims in a letter to the editor. These false claims were quite easy to debunk at factcheck.org and truthout.org

Mr. Turner probably doesn’t know that the story began in an Indian paper, quoted by an anonymous source with no facts or backup data to support the allegation.

This is typical of this type of echo-chamber lie. Some unnamed source says it, Fox News picks up the lie, echoes it back and forth between lying heads and voila, it must be true because I heard the lie everywhere on Fox. This is how lies become the norm in today’s political discourse.
