To the editor:
I invite Langley voters to support Jim Sundberg, the most qualified candidate running for Langley City Council Position 3.
As one who served two terms on Bothell City Council, I know what is required to be an effective council member. I know that the job is tough. I know that it requires a keen mind, the ability to not only listen but to hear what is said, and the fortitude to make wise and sometimes unpopular decisions. An effective council member must possess the education, experience and time to devote to the business of the city, regardless of its size. Jim Sundberg excels at them all:
Jim holds a master’s degree in city planning and has worked in the field professionally for five years.
Jim has served Langley as chairman of the Planning Advisory Board for three years.
Jim has the time to devote to researching and analyzing so that he makes wise decisions for all of Langley.
Jim Sundberg likes what is happening in Langley and wants build on what is working. He supports completing planned major improvements to Second Street as well as expanding Langley Marina. Both will improve Langley’s business community, and a healthy business climate generates increased tax revenues for needed public services which benefit everyone.
Jim Sundberg supports high quality of life in neighborhoods and advocates policies to insure that new development does not lower it. In the nine years that Jim and his family have lived in Langley, he has become acutely aware of the need to preserve tranquility in neighborhoods.
Jim Sundberg envisions walking paths, bike-route signs, charging stations for electric cars, and related energy-conserving possibilities for a sustainable Langley.
Jim Sundberg’s infectious excitement about Langley’s future, his energy, qualifications and experience make him the candidate who will work for all of Langley. If I lived in Langley, I would vote for Jim Sundberg. If you do, I ask you to vote for Jim Sundberg, City Council Position 3. You will not regret it!
