To the editor:
Usually when spring appears on the horizon, we start to plan our garden chores. This winter, both my husband and myself suffered lengthy illnesses. So when the outside work beckoned, we knew that we did not have the energy to cope.
To our rescue came the wonderful volunteers from Hearts & Hammers. They weeded our front and back gardens and gave our front porch and eaves a fresh coat of paint.
Thanks to those volunteers, who worked in miserable weather, we are “new and improved.” They gave us a wonderful gift and we are profoundly grateful.
