To the editor:

Leonard and I attended the NW Citizen Corps Expo at the Washington State Fire Training Academy outside of North Bend, as volunteers of CERT (Community Emergency Response Training).

It was important and valuable training, and we want to express our appreciation to Michael Oyola for taking the leadership and being the South Whidbey CERT coordinator.

Summer is winding down, and it’s time to think about your state of preparedness, especially because September is National Preparedness Month (www.ready.gov).
