Your article about how fine the Chinook fishing is failed to include any mention of the well-known fact that our Southern Resident Killer Whales, J, K and L pods, are facing starvation due to the lack of enough of their preferred prey, Chinook salmon.
Certainly there are many agencies and nonprofits working on this issue, but as our most-read local newspaper, you should have discussed their plight and how we can help them.
You should have given a link to Orca Network, a well-known local nonprofit dedicated to public information about this issue, to encourage people to make changes in their habits to help these iconic and beloved whales who share our home.
We all need to work together to help them.
