Island County residents should add Island Transit to the list of agencies whose grant funding would be impacted if a federal grant freeze were implemented. The total grant funding at risk is $19 million and was awarded to Island Transit to support the coming South Whidbey Transit Center as well as our fleet transition plan to purchase hybrid and battery electric vehicles. Removing this vital grant funding would disrupt Island Transit’s careful plans to meet state mandated tail-pipe emissions reductions in service to you, Island County residents and visitors.
