As the mother of the murder victims son, and former member of the community, I find it necessary to voice my concerns about the nature of this article and its impact on our family.

The article fails to acknowledge the deep and lasting pain inflicted upon our family by the loss of Edward Ross, who left behind a 9-day-old son. While one person may have forgiven the individual responsible for this heinous act due to their faith, it is crucial to recognize that forgiveness is a personal journey, and not all family members, friends, or loved ones may share the same sentiment.

The article’s focus on redemption and business success without acknowledging the profound impact on the victim’s family is insensitive and, frankly, grossly inappropriate. The promotion of a positive narrative surrounding an act of murder, kidnapping, and subsequent redemption feels deeply disrespectful to the memory of the victim and the enduring pain experienced by those left behind.

I implore the newspaper to exercise better judgment in future articles, ensuring that the perspective of the impacted family is considered and respected. It is essential to approach such sensitive topics with greater empathy and understanding, recognizing the diverse range of emotions experienced by those connected to the victim.

I hope that in the future, your publication will conduct more thorough investigations into the implications of the stories you choose to share, understanding that the repercussions extend far beyond the individual seeking redemption.
