To the editor:
On behalf of the Greater Freeland Chamber of Commerce, we would like to thank everyone who participated in the recent Harborside Parade, A Day at the Beach, and thank the nearly 200 people who came out to watch the parade. We would also like to thank the South Whidbey Record for its efforts in helping us announce this event to the public!
Moving the parade date to May 30 brought us a beautiful, blue sunny day — and meant that the 60 kids who came down from Bellingham to march with the Meridan middle and high school marching bands were able to enjoy a great time at the beach after the parade. They also won first place in our band competition!
This year, our event combined with Relay for Life, which sponsored afternoon events at the beach, including a hot-dog stand to raise funds for Relay for Life.
Again — thanks to everyone for helping make this a fun Freeland tradition.
Next year, we are thinking of June 5 as a possible date — please feel free to e-mail us at freeland@whidbey.com if you think that is a good date.
