To the editor:
The August 30 edition of The South Whidbey Record referred to Forbes.com’s second annual list of Top States for Business wherein “Washington rose from 12th to fifth place.”
I would direct readers to the latest (third) annual Forbe’s list of the “Best States for Business” published on July 31, 2008. Click here
Washington is now ranked number 3 in the nation; having moved up from number 5 in 2007.
Clearly, Gov. Gregoire’s administration and the Democratically-led legislature are doing well for our state.
It is interesting to note that Alaska, under the leadership of Gov. Palin (the apparent GOP nominee for vice president), fell from number 47 in 2007 to number 48 in 2008.
It would appear that our state’s business culture is doing very well in a poor national economic environment.
We do need change — in that other Washington.
