LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Campaign turns to dirty tricks

To the editor:

I just got off the phone with a very nice young woman who wanted to know if I knew that Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen voted to put sex offenders in my neighborhood and if I knew that, would I be more likely or less likely to vote for her.

She continues asking similar questions that have no answers until I stop her and ask if this is a “push poll.”

She has no answer but continues by asking if I knew that Linda Haddon was widowed early in her life and went on to start a support group for widows. And if I knew this, was I more likely etc. etc.

I don’t know Linda Haddon, so I have no opinion on who she is, her record of achievements or if she had anything to do with this “poll.”

I do know that the state Republican Party will do and say anything to get Mary Margaret out of office. This is a new low.

What they should try to explain is how replacing the senior senator in the state, in the majority party with a freshman Senator in the minority party would benefit ANYBODY in Island County or the

10th District.

They are blaming her for everything from the ferry system problems to the weather. Don’t believe it! The reason they don’t explain it is they can’t. So they misrepresent her record. Pitiful.

You also have to ask why call me? It’s not like Langley is a swing precinct.

Watch out voters, it’s starting to rain, uh, disengenuity.
