To the editor:

We at Good Cheer would like to say thank you to the post offices, postal workers and our community for the 5,000 pounds of food the food bank received from the postal food drive.

Just to give some perspective on what 5,000 pounds of food is to us: We distributed 48,115 pounds of food in April this year to 667 households, an average of 73 pounds of food per family. 5,000 pounds is 10 percent of what we give away in a month, and is a huge help!

We received among the donations an amazing variety of food items, and since we buy only a set list of items each month, the variety on our shelves comes from private donations.

We could not do what we do without the continuing support of our community.
