LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Enough is enough, no more records requests

Editor, The recent article, “School district, city again hit with public records lawsuits,” smells; not the journalism but the subject matter. It feels like the state’s sunshine law is being used for a personal vendetta. Our city has had a five-star mayor with Dr. Fred McCarthy, who continuously put the city’s needs ahead of personal needs.

Editor,

The recent article, “School district, city again hit with public records lawsuits,” smells; not the journalism but the subject matter. It feels like the state’s sunshine law is being used for a personal vendetta. Our city has had a five-star mayor with Dr. Fred McCarthy, who continuously put the city’s needs ahead of personal needs.

And we presently have a five-star school superintendent with Dr. Jo Moccia, who is being distracted from the positive opportunities within our school district. Now the new mayor has to deal with this mess. One could say, “Oh well,” but the reality is these requests are damaging our community and the school district by draining resources (time, money and energy) that would otherwise be directed toward positive activities and opportunities.

It’s time to put this folly to rest and move on to productive and constructive tasks; dwelling in negativity helps no one. Enough is enough.
