LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Fireworks stand helps youth

To the editor:

Congratulations go out to Ann Gordon, this year’s sweepstakes winner, our wonderful Whidbey community, friends, family and visitors who purchased fireworks from the South Whidbey Kiwanis booth at Ken’s Korner. Your purchases of safe/sane fireworks helped us raise over $12,000. All profits will continue our support of local programs and projects that address the needs of our children, youth and less fortunate.

We also want to thank Steve Springer for donating the Red Apple parking space, county Sheriff’s Office for prompt response to the break-in, South Whidbey Record for articles, Clinton Nails & Spa, Cooper Auto Sales and Les Schwab for allowing us to display signs.

This support, combined with all the time and energy provided by fellow South Whidbey Kiwanians and other volunteers, helped make this annual fundraiser successful. We hope to see you next Fourth of July.

If you’re interested in being involved in a great service organization, give us a visit. Breakfast is on us at

7 a.m. Thursdays in the CMA church basement located in Langley.
