LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Gift of bikes helps kids in foster care

To the editor:

I am writing to express heartfelt gratitude to the members of Island Wings, to M-Bar-C Ranch, and to the Forgotten Children’s Fund for your gift of bikes to be enjoyed by Island County youths in foster care.

These brand-new bikes will make their way to local youths in-care through KidsDream-Island County, a new resource in our area and an expansion of KidsDream Snohomish County — www.kidsdreamofsnohomish.org.

The mission of KidsDream-Island County is to help fulfill the dreams of abused and neglected children by providing them with opportunities to develop their skills, talents and self-esteem, and to promote involvement by the entire community in helping children.

Children in foster care are regular kids, but life has been especially hard on them. They are in care through no fault of their own. Your gift of bikes will go a long way in helping these children enjoy experiences most children have as part of normal childhood.

Your compassionate response also sends a clear message: This community cares about children!

Please know your generosity is deeply appreciated!
