To the editor:

While visiting one of our favorite bed-and-breakfasts, we strolled to the book store. We came away with a real treasure; an intimate and motivating anthology of some of your island volunteers. If we weren’t already enamored with your community, this Hometown Heroes book would have clinched it for us.

We were touched that this was put together by local volunteers who donated all the proceeds to youth programs — a real bonus to purchasing the book.

With the unexpected rainy weather, we have had time to read much of the book and it has stirred up many new ideas for us.
