Editor,
I’ve been following the great bunny debate in Langley with a great deal of interest. It seems that some people have decided that the bunnies in Langley are a problem, a fact of which I have not been convinced. I personally think that they are a lovely decoration in our town.
If it ever comes to be that I am convinced that they are a problem, I can assure you that I will never go along with either of the solutions I have seen mentioned in the South Whidbey Record; those being having them killed by birds of prey (can you imagine a worse death?) or that we should eat them. How could someone even come up with either of those suggestions? I hope that the suggestion that we eat the bunnies was made as a joke.
In the meantime, I plan to write in “The Langley Bunnies” on my ballot when I vote for mayor; maybe they will treat us better than we are suggesting they be treated. I am also going to declare my property in central Langley a bunny sanctuary, and do all I can to protect our furry neighbors.
This whole debate makes me wish that we were still talking about the funicular.
