To the editor:
Sunday was ladies night: Cosmopolitans at the Bistro, then to the Clyde to watch the movie “Sex and the City”, and then back to the Bistro for dinner.
I feel a bit nostalgic as I put back my four-inch stiletto heels and remember when I could wear those all day long. Comfort was not the important issue – being on the fashion forefront was. Growing up in New York near the city it was all about the clothes and shoes that you wore. Having just moved recently to the island, I am still not completely one for “island time” and I must confess, I wear high-heeled shoes even when I am wearing a sweatshirt or pants.
I loved Sunday though because it brought so many women together who may not have normally been together and mixed them all up in their finest clothes (ala NYC) and their highest heeled shoes. It was so nice to have that camaraderie, that bond, with so many new faces. As the group I was with watched, we were astounded by the number of women who turned out for the event. We didn’t think that many women on the island existed!
In closing, I encourage every women to dust off her heals more often, just for the heck of it, to have a “fabulous” time with friends and mosey on out of their “comfort zone” to let it all hang out and just have fun! Short skirts optional.
