To the editor:

I am writing to thank the people at Maple Ridge Assisted Living for the incredible care they provided my grandma, Felicia Braun, during her last chapter in life.

As a regular guest visiting my grandma, I had the pleasure of witnessing the professionalism and caring manner with which they serve the residents. From Geri the executive director and all of the caregivers, to Tae the hairdresser, Mark the maintenance man and the cooks, many staff repeatedly went above and beyond their job descriptions to make my grandma a little more comfortable or provide her with something she needed. Even the few times my grandmother was irrational and a bit difficult, she was always treated with respect and understanding.

During my grandma’s last week, as her family waited for her to pass, the caregivers arrived like clockwork, every two hours to turn and check on her, connect with her as best they could and see if we needed anything.

My family greatly appreciated this, and I know she did too.

Maple Ridge has many amenities, good food and lots of beautiful art on the walls, but it’s the people who work there who truly make it a high-class facility.
