LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Mona Newbauer impresses in port race

To the editor:

I am writing to encourage folks to vote for Mona Newbauer for the port commissioner, Position 3 seat in our upcoming election.

Many of you know Mona as the entrepreneur who started Island Angel Chocolates in Langley. Mona is successful in her business because she is inquisitive into the nature of the business community, and conscientious in her focus on the larger business community of South Whidbey. She stays heavily involved in the issues facing our island community and is willing to ask the hard questions necessary to ensure that the choices that are made will be in the best interest of us all.

Beyond this, she has been involved heavily with the Whidbey Island Arts Council, where her focus is on supporting local musicians in promoting their music and their ability to make a living.

She is thoughtful and committed to issues that surround the use of the Langley Marina, the larger environmental concerns of our community, and the desire to find a way to support local businesses as well as to grow our ability to attract new business without negative impact.

On more than one occasion, I have had the opportunity to talk to Mona, either alone or when she is conversing with others about the many issues that face us all on a daily basis. I am always impressed with how much she knows about the community and the way in which she can answer questions and concerns in an honest and straight-forward manner. Mona is already endorsed by the outgoing port commissioner, which I believe speaks volumes to her ability to fill this position.

Please vote for the future of South Whidbey by voting for Mona Newbauer.
