LETTER TO THE EDITOR | New Island Transit board inspires optimism

Editor, I attended the most recent meeting of Island Transit’s Board of Directors on Jan. 16, 2015. It was a breath of fresh air! With three new board members — Island County Commissioner Jill Johnson Pfeiffer, Island County Commissioner Rick Hannold, and Oak Harbor City Councilman Rick Almberg — the meeting ran smoothly. There is a new chairman of the board as well as a new secretary.

I attended the most recent meeting of Island Transit’s Board of Directors on Jan. 16, 2015. It was a breath of fresh air!

With three new board members — Island County Commissioner Jill Johnson Pfeiffer, Island County Commissioner Rick Hannold, and Oak Harbor City Councilman Rick Almberg — the meeting ran smoothly. There is a new chairman of the board as well as a new secretary.

Public comments were treated with respect. Good questions were asked and there was no pretense of any uber-mensch by the board.

If we are to dig ourselves out of the mess left by Martha Rose, it can happen with this new board.

Let’s give them the support they need.
