LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Story gives hope for a kinder world

To the editor:

I just read the Saturday story on the front page of the Record about the “June grooms” and I have to immediately get on the computer and express my gratitude that you did this and had the courage and willingness to step up to it.

My congratulations to Ron and Richard and best wishes for a long and happy life together.

My great admiration and ‘thank you’ to the editor and publisher of the Record for being willing to do the story and put it on the front page. Also my appreciation to journalist Michaela Marx Wheatley for writing a perfect story. It took bravery, thoughtfulness and a lot of talent to do it so well.

My wish is it would be reprinted in every newspaper in the country, large and small. It has made me proud to live on South Whidbey.

I have cut it out and tacked it to the wall by my computer to remind me to step up to my beliefs for peace, love and respect for all and for my hope for a kinder, less cruel, more gracious advancement into the 21st century. Thanks again to The South Whidbey Record.
