LETTER TO THE EDITOR | The funicular for Langley deserves exploration

Editor, When I first learned of the Langley funicular, I did not support the concept. However, after considering the varied opinions, I am now positive on the idea and further exploration of the plan.

Editor,

When I first learned of the Langley funicular, I did not support the concept. However, after considering the varied opinions, I am now positive on the idea and further exploration of the plan.

I see the funicular as offering multiple benefits: it will facilitate both utilitarian and mobility-restricted access to the marina; it will help promote Langley as a unique destination for more visitors from both sea and land; and it delivers the possibility to generate revenue necessary to offset operating and maintenance expenses.

Let’s keep the process moving forward and not belittle or attempt to humiliate those with whom we disagree. Legitimate questions and concerns will be answered. We have good leaders in city hall; they will make the best choice (yes or no) when armed with the best information.

One thought: If the funicular was already in place and was facing some sort of issue, I am fairly certain that the residents of Langley would rally to its support.
