LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Trump supporters may end up ruing their support

Editor, Nearly all newspapers still adhere to the “left versus right” model of politics. Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders operate on the “99 percent versus 1 percent” model of politics — from which their improbable popularity flows. This flipping of the political axis from horizontal to vertical does not, however, negate the continuing importance of liberal versus conservative in political thought.

Editor,

Nearly all newspapers still adhere to the “left versus right” model of politics. Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders operate on the “99 percent versus 1 percent” model of politics — from which their improbable popularity flows.

This flipping of the political axis from horizontal to vertical does not, however, negate the continuing importance of liberal versus conservative in political thought.

Donald Trump’s own website directs Googlers to a Wiki list of his endorsers.

As I write, his newspaper endorsements total four, including the National Enquirer!

Clinton’s newspaper endorsements total 84. Of the many dozen conservative newspapers originally endorsing Trump’s Republican opponents, none have switched their endorsement to Trump to this point. None!

Long-time Republicans swayed by candidate Trump’s populist rhetoric may rue their support when they see how a president Trump comes down on the horizontal axis!
