To the editor:
I do not want to beat this story to death, but once again the “Look at the bigger picture” article by Marianne Edain, her statement about the sheriff not taking a stand in a civil matter shows her ignorance.
Without a court order, the sheriff cannot legally enter into a civil matter other than to keep the peace or other criminal acts described by state law (Revised Code of Washington).
Had he told the bulldozer to stop, the county would have been liable financially for loss of income on behalf of the bulldozer operator/company and lost job production on behalf of the landowner. She makes it look like the sheriff sided with the bulldozer operator. It is obvious Marianne Edain has a distaste for law enforcement.
I know her short paragraph was a jab back, but it shows no understanding.
