LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Yes, Yes for the Library

To the editor:

The Coupeville Library

is a wonderful space.

For folks young and old

it’s a gathering place.

You can read magazines,

check out CDs and books,

connect to the Internet,

do research and look;

There’s activities for children,

a section for teens,

programs for all ages

that many have seen.

There is tax help for seniors,

audio books for the blind,

comfy seats to read news in

and the staff is so kind!

You can self-order books

and there’s self check-out too,

now the staff has more time

so that they can help you.

Kids can walk to the library

and neighbors can too,

to check out a book

or make a copy or two.

For twenty great years

our library has served all

but now it’s so popular

the space is too small.

We need more computers,

more books, DVD’s,

more space for programs

so we can all see.

The good citizens of Coupeville

have paid all this time

for a building we’ve used

and not asked for a dime.

Our taxes have paid

for staff and books I might add,

but not for the building

and maintenance tab.

So to folks who reside

in the county outside

of the town that has

given so much;

I ask you to join me

and lend your support

for remodeling,

computers and such.

For the cost of one book –

it’s not much per year,

Vote Yes! to expand

and your neighbors will cheer!

But you must vote Yes twice,

it’s important you do,

for both measures must pass,

Prop. 1 and Prop. 2.

Every vote is important!

There’s no time to waste.

Check Yes, Yes on your ballot

and return it with haste.

Then you and your neighbors

can smile when you say:

“We secured our library’s future

for 20 years from this day!”
