To the editor:

Here is a Catch 22 for you. Wednesday morning, April 25, someone’s car broke down on Sandy Point Road. When I left for work it was parked on the side of the road near my house. When I came home, it was in my driveway. A note said that it would be gone within 24 hours with lots of apologies. The car is still there. I called the sheriff. Sorry, they can’t tow a vehicle that is on private property and suggested that I call a private towing company. I called a private towing company. Sorry, we can’t tow a car that you don’t own that is on private property. So, I am stuck.

And the thing is, I would like to assist the person who owns the car. I think that she may be homeless. I would be willing to help her get her car fixed! She left a note with a first name and a disconnected phone number. So, if anyone knows who may own this car, I would appreciate some assistance. In the meantime, I am caught in the Catch 22. Perhaps the county can come up with some regulation regarding abandoned cars that doesn’t stick it to the homeowner.  In the meantime, perhaps I will plant flowers in it.
