If they ignore me, and their owners clean up after them, I have no problem with dogs off-leash in a park.

However, within the last two weeks, while walking across Dan Porter Park in Clinton, I have been accosted by two sets of uncontrolled dogs. Once by two pit bulls and a week later by two large Labs.

The pit bulls were in a dead run for me from behind. They stopped only when I turned and loudly challenged them after hearing continuous yelling by who I must assume was their owner. The Labs approached me in a run, appearing friendly. They jumped all over me even biting my forearm but in a playful manner. They became aggressive during my efforts to rid myself of them and they finally got off of me upon arrival of their owner.

Additionally, in the past seven years, while daily walking in Dan Porter Park, I have been accosted by dogs more than once a year.

I have never heard an apology from an owner and they have been on site.

I cannot quote Island County ordinances for pets in public parks but am sure that they require pet owners to have their animals on a leash at all times while in parks. If you wish to have your dogs run free, I believe that we have an off-leash park.
