Take careful steps on growth | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

It is sad when pro-development minded people go to great lengths in print to find fault with how things are done in Langley.

I moved here years ago from highly developed East Coast communities, and I have had businesses in Langley for a long time.

In my work, I meet so many people who have moved here or wish that they could, because they love this town. Visitors and locals look at Langley as a “gift” and as a place to rejuvenate. They love our restaurants, they love our accommodations, our services, our entertainment, and they love our merchandise.

There are businesses that are doing quite well, even in this economy. Continuing to do what they do well has resulted in a large “Country Living” magazine feature.  Continuing what they do well has repeatedly put the Inn at Langley on Conde Nast’s list of favorite inns in the country.

While experiencing some successes, we need to be proud and supportive of every thoughtful person in Langley who is forward thinking, and who can help us on a path to becoming a sustainable community. We need to take careful steps toward sensible and gradual development.
