To the editor:

Where do I begin? The list is long and my gratitude is immense for all the help with Linda Walter’s spaghetti benefit. We were able to raise more than $2,000 for Ms. Linda to help with cancer-related bills.

I first need to thank one Toddle Inn daycare parent, Michaela Wheatley, who helped with publicity, food and the set-up. Without her help I can honestly say the benefit would have been somewhat of a disaster.

Second, a big thank you to Brian and Michelle Sterba who helped book the Legion, suggested the silent auction, and donated a gift card from the Goose grocery store.

Third, a big thanks to the Legion for waiving the rental and clean-up fee. Linda at the Legion was incredibly supportive.

Fourth, Linda’s family, the daycare families and local businesses that donated items: Ursula Shoudy’s delicious cheesecakes, Mackenzie Crain, Kelli Houck, Laura Thompson of Urban Roots Hair Salon, Joni’s Hair Design, Kimo Neely, Island Girl Nails, Clinton Food Mart, Hanson’s Building Supplies, Northwest Lawn Care by Marc Kukuk, Massage by Madhu, Emily Day and date night childcare provided by the Toddle Inn’s youngest staff member. The Goose Community Grocer donated spaghetti, sauce and cheese to feed 100 people.

Thanks also go to “our Bunco ladies” who brought desserts, Mackenzie Crain for beverages, and my business partner Ursula Shoudy and her husband Scott, who not only brought in a delicious sauce but also did all the serving. I knew with the Shoudys in the kitchen everything would turn out. Delanie and Tabitha Helland and Sienna Schaal offered childcare so parents could gather knowing their children were entertained and watched closely.

Thank you also to Patricia Duff for writing a heartfelt article describing exactly what was needed to make the benefit a success.

If I forgot anyone, I apologize. I am proud that due to the wonderful cooperation of many, Linda was able to walk away with $2,000 to help cover her medical bills, lost wages and commuting. We love you Linda and I hope you now know just how truly special you are to so many.
