AT THE GALLERIES ON WHIDBEY

Fine Balance Hub features students Three South Whidbey High School photographers, Caitlin Merkley, Jesse Portillo and Hannah Whitcomb, are the featured artists at the Bayview Cash Store Hub through April. The show is sponsored by Fine Balance Imaging Studios. The seniors are pursuing an independent study in photography with instructor Don Wodjenski.

The show is sponsored by Fine Balance Imaging Studios. The seniors are pursuing an independent study in photography with instructor Don Wodjenski.

An artists’ reception for the photographers is from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, April 13 at the Hub.

The monthly art shows in the Hub are an extension of the Gratitude Art Show hosted by FBI Studios, and 100 percent of the sale proceeds go to the artists.

Rob Schouten Presents Otley

An opening reception for Kathleen Otley’s “New Encaustics” show at Rob Schouten Gallery at Greenbank Farm is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 6.

Otley has created all new encaustics which incorporate avian imagery with three dimensional aspects. For Otley, ancient folktales mingle with the continuity of birds heralding the end of winter’s stark beauty and the promise of spring’s new life.

Taste for Wine has lots of vibrant color

Vibrant color pallets, nature, whimsy and ecology combine in the unique artwork of Karen Schroeder and Lisa Reynolds, who are the featured artists at Taste for Wine at Bayview Corner through April 30.
