On Saturday, June 8 from 2-4 p.m., Whidbey Island Nourishes will preview the Adirondack chairs created by this year’s generous and talented local artists for the CHAIR-ity Auction and Chair Trail.
The artists will be attending the event as well as many of the local business owners who are hosting chairs. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this preview. Complimentary light appetizers and beverages will be served. The chairs preview will be outdoors in the area by the Learning Lab at South Whidbey Community Center near the big WICA parking lot, 723 Camano Avenue, Langley.
In addition to 15 full-size chairs, WIN will also be revealing two child-size chairs in this CHAIRity Trail Collection. The chairs will be displayed at local businesses in Clinton, Langley, Bayview and Freeland from June 15 until Aug. 15. The online auction for the chairs will start on Aug. 1 and end on Aug. 15. A web site, chairity-trail.com, provides more information about the chairs, chair trail and online auction.
Over the past year the need for food support among South Whidbey children and teens has risen significantly, and inflation has affected WIN’s budget. Funds raised from the proceeds of this event are a crucial source of support for the healthy food distributed in WIN’s programs.
WIN is a volunteer not-for-profit organization dedicated to nourishing youth on South Whidbey Island. For over 15 years WIN has been providing weekend meal support to local youth in need, along with healthy snacks to students in the South Whidbey School District.
