In a commitment that will deepen her relationship with the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in Indiana, Clinton resident Jeanie McElwain became a providence associate on Nov. 12.
She joins 31 other 2016 associates with the Sisters of Providence.
Director of Providence Associates Sister Diane Mason said in a press release that in order to become a providence associate, a candidate is paired with a sister of providence or providence associate companion and goes through a year of study, prayer and reflection. Sister Mary Montgomery of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods was McElwain’s companion.
There are more than 250 providence associates in the United States and Taiwan.
