Growing up

Emerson the elephant seal pup has finished his first molt and is preparing for a life at sea. Though the section of Deception Pass State Park where he was born has been reopened, Orca Network volunteers and park staff are still working to keep a moving barrier around the pup and instruct park visitors to always maintain a distance of at least 50 yards. This photo was taken with a long lens from a respectful distance.
