Switch set for city hall
“Langley City Hall sold last week for $180,000 to Steve Janes, with the city buying the old Masonic Lodge on Second Street as a replacement. The difference in price will be met by the sale of at least part of 17 acres of city property on Coles Road, across from the new secondary sewage treatment plant. Bank appraisal set the land at $15,000 per acre. Funds from that property will also be used to convert the lodge into city offices.
“‘In the last 48 hours we spent a whole bundle of money,’ Mayor Vicki Lash told the city council.
“The price for the Masonic Lodge closed at $295,872.”

Computer crash handicaps Langley
“A crashed out computer server at Langley City Hall made city work a little more difficult this week and made it impossible for some to get an online version of the city’s quality of life survey.
“Last Wednesday, the city’s server suffered a hard drive failure. Rick Hill, the city’s public works director and computer hardware manager, said the city’s billing software was a likely culprit in the failure.”
